Frequently asked questions

What is Spottle?

Spottle is a cloud-spotting game for kids ages 4–13. Kids point the camera at a cloud, tap Scan, and an animated bunny named Nancy guesses what shape the cloud looks like. Kids pick the matching shape to score points.

Is Spottle safe for kids?

Yes. Spottle is COPPA-compliant, has no ads, no third-party trackers, no accounts, no chat, and no social features. A parental gate protects settings and any external links. See the Privacy Policy.

Does Spottle store my child's photos?

No. Scan photos are sent over HTTPS to our AI provider (Anthropic), processed to generate a response, and then discarded. Photos are not saved to a Spottle server and are not used to train any AI model.

Does Spottle collect personal information about my child?

Only what is needed for gameplay, and only on the device. That includes the child's first name or nickname, chosen avatar, age bracket, score, and a list of shapes they've spotted. Deleting the profile inside the app or deleting the app removes all of it.

Does Spottle need internet?

Yes, because the AI shape-matching runs via the Claude API. If there's no connection, the game shows a friendly "no signal" screen and waits.

Is Spottle free?

Spottle may offer optional paid features in the future. Any paid feature is behind a parental gate and is purchased through the Apple App Store.

My camera isn't working.

Open iOS Settings → Spottle → Camera and make sure camera access is allowed. If it still doesn't work, try restarting the app.

How do I delete a profile?

Open Spottle, go to Settings → Player Profiles, tap the trash icon next to the profile, and complete the parental gate. To delete all data at once, delete the app.

How do I request deletion of my child's data?

Because profile data lives on the device, deleting the profile or the app is usually enough. If you need something further, use our data deletion form or email support@spottle.app. We respond within 7 days.

Where can I report something inappropriate?

If Spottle's AI ever shows content that seems inappropriate for a kids' product, please email support@spottle.app with a short description and, if possible, a screenshot. We take these reports seriously and use them to improve safety.

Still need help?

Email support@spottle.app with your device model, iOS version, and a short description of the problem. If your question is about a specific child profile, tell us the profile name (not the child's full name, please).
